Greg, Springfield says this is a "Proprietary Muzzle Stabilizer" and don't say is removable. I would ask then directly at     1-800-680-6866  Customer service representatives can take your call Monday through Friday 8:30 to 4:30 CST.

Greg, I do not own one, but a buddy of mine replaced the "proprietary muzzle stabilizer" brake with a National Match slotted muzzle brake no problem. So it can't be that tough.
