No Ralph, the rear sight grove is "raised" compared to the barrel. (The area above the cylinder).

This revolver has a high front sight so you can file it down to proper height once you find a load you like to shoot. The manufacturer does this to give you an easy and inexpensive way to bring the sights into alignment. If it shot high you would need to replace the front sight which is expensive.
