Charles - Not aware of any particular inherent problems with the SIG compact 1911s, and have had very good luck with every SIG 1911 I've owned. They make a quality 1911. As far as the finish, I would recommend you contact Buds directly and inquire on that matter. Call at 1-859-368-0371 9am-9pm EST Mon-Fri. As wed aren't Buds employees, and have no acces to the inventory, there is no way anyone here can definitively answer the question on the finish.
