James - are we calling .22 rim fire rifles "Assault" rifles now? Since it is a 22, it should be OK if the mag is 10 rounds or less. If it is over 10 rounds, contact Buds and see if they will ship it without a magazine, allowing you to buy compliant magazines after you get your rifle. I've been told by Buds Customer Service they will remove a non-compliant magazine and ship - but they will not substitute a compliant mag. That would be your responsibility.

James, As long as magazine capacity is restricted to 10 rounds or fewer the rifle can be shipped to CA. If magazine over 10 rounds capacity that is prohibited. Permitted: ✔ All rimfire caliber rifles with a magazine capacity of 10 rounds or fewer (e.g.: .22LR, .17HMR, etc.) are permitted, excluding rifles with tubular magazines in lever-action firearms, which do not have magazine restrictions. Rimfire caliber rifles are not considered "assault weapons" and can have features that centerfire rifles cannot.
