Christopher, yes Sir. You will not have any issues with JHP's. Like the 1872 Open Top, these revolvers were not converted from a percussion model but instead were manufactured to fire a modern cartridge/bullets. (Just standard loads recommended and not hot loads).

Chris - this one should handle any commonly available commercial 45 long colt ammunition with no problems. It was made for modern ammo.
