Sam, Most firearms do not come from the factory spotless. Most need a disassembly and good cleaning. Some reviewers shoot guns right out of the box. I always clean and lube any new purchase. Sure it will look like new with a good cleaning.

Sam, not brand new. Though test firing is done at the factory, it takes some time for the type of buildup you describe to happen. Could be new old stock perhaps? Just do a thorough cleaning to make sure there is no abnormal wear any where on the pistol. If things look in order, you should be good Sir.

These little guns tend to get very dirty, very quickly, with just a few rounds being fired through them. And honestly, would you want a pistol that HAD NOT been tested by the factory? I wouldn't. Clean it well, inspect it closely and lube it properly in accordance with the manual. Check if there are any places on the metal that shows any excessive wear ... more than would be normal for having fired a couple of magazines through the gun. If there IS a problem, then contact SIG immediately and seek their guidance in making things right. Once the pistol is transferred, the warranty is between you and the factory. Good luck.
