you should not have that problem any more as the quality has improved I would also contact Marlin about getting your gun fixed http://ccm.marlinfirearms.com/ that being said the henry is a better quality gun
here are some things to check on your 2016 336 "Besides bad screws here are the other causes of broken screws 1. Holes in band not lined up with screw channel in barrel 2. Screw channel in barrel cut too wide front to back allowing too much movement 3. Rear band fits too loosely on the forend (shouldn't touch the barrel anyway) allowing too much movement of the forend with recoil 4. Screw holes in band not horizontal. Screw goes in at an angle through the screw channel 5. Screw channel cut to shallow. "
