On many of the shotguns that will not take a magazine extension there are dimples inside the magazine tube that will prevent a shell from going further in the tube others have a lip at the end of the tube (cap end) that will also prevent a shell from going further. I would pull the barrel off then pull the magazine spring and follower. after ding that I would drop a shell in the magazine tube and see if it passes through with no binding if it does then it will be just a matter of finding a extension and tube that will fit
