Mike, The front A2 sight is also the gas block. So would need to replace with low profile gas block. It is better to leave front sight and rear back up sight on and just mount a red dot to co-witness with existing sights.

yes it is removable as long as you install a different gas Block but it will also work just fine with a red dot sight or a scope
