Please don't use a pistol to do any kind of big game hunting. Pistols were not designed to hunt with you need a hunting rifle and rifle ammunition. You have to make sure you can kill the animal with one shot if possible you would have to be very close to a dear to make sure that you made a kill with one shot. Shaun, 5 inch barreled handgun or any of the carbines in 45ACP would work. As you know, ammunition selection will be key and distances will depend on barrel length. Shorter for handguns and longer for carbines (just keep distances reasonable). As you know, Underwood Ammunition is the place for Hunting Ammunition.
