Is this a series 70 or series 80 1911? If it is a series 80, does Taurus make a commander 1911 that is a series 70? Thanks.

Christopher, this Commander is a Series 80 Firing System Sir.  The Taurus Commander also includes a firing pin disconnect safety to prevent accidental discharge when dropped. A firing pin block lever pushes the firing pin block out of the way as the trigger is pulled. I would verify if a Series 70 version of the Commander is available directly with Taurus as I have not been able to find one.
