Phil, Considering that the only real differences are the front sight and flutes, buy the one that YOU like best. They'll both shoot exactly the same guaranteed. This will be more of a which pleases you better aesthetically.

Main differences will be the grips, sights, and barrel profile. Hunter has a fluted barrel, larger grip with finger grooves, and a V-notch rear sight with fiber optic front sight. The competition model has a slab side barrel, flat wood grips, and a square notch rear sight and black square front sight. As far as accuracy difference, they are nearly identical and have the same barrel length, so it really depends on your preference in sights and grip handling. There is a great deal of aftermarket support for these guns such as accurizing kits, upgraded triggers, and different sights. Were I in your place I would pick the model that you think will be the closest to your best fit from the factory as far as sights and make any changes you see fit in the future with upgraded parts.
