You didn't specify any item, but I assume you are talking about a pistol. The LPI in 20 LPI means LINES PER SQUARE INCH. It has to do with the grip. I have a 1911 that has 25LPI and another with 20LPI. I think it provides me with a good grip and comfort is important to me. That's something you'll have to figure out yourself as it is subjective. Go to a gun shop and hold some pistols in which you know the LPI.
