Christopher, if you can deal with the larger profile, I highly recommend the detachable magazine Shockwave 590 M. The magazines are somewhat double stack and are shorter that equivalent single stack shotgun magazines. Usually magazines get lost or misplaced unless they are in the gun and if they hang out much they get caught on things. The Shockwave would be extremely hard to shoot accurately and not nearly as effective as a short pump shotgun with a youth size butt stock. This is what we set most people up with (and what I have in my bedroom). The 20 gauge with number 3 buckshot is devastating and will not over penetrate. At home defense distances you must carefully aim your shots or you will not hit your target because the shot charge is only about 3 inches wide.
