Alexander, thank you for your Service Sir. I too am a veteran, although maybe younger. (You tube has many excellent how too videos for most firearm breakdown and reassembly). I had both the Scout and the Socom 16, and I liked the Scout better, so I kept it. I think it balances a bit better, and I liked the sights on the Scout much better than the Socom. As already posted, you could always swap the sights, but I kept the Scout, and have since changed out the muzzle device. I think part of the reason I kept the Scout as well is that you can change devices without having to swap the whole front sight assembly.
I don't understand you. What's the question? If it is Socom or Scout then it is your choice. It is subjective.
