Stewart, the CHARTER ARMS 74530 BULLDOG XL .45 LC will fire the occasional +P loads but it is not recommended to shoot a steady diet of +P loads in a shorter than 4 inch barrel Sir. ----- https://charterfirearms.com/pages/faqs
I would avoid the hi performance loads like Buffalo bore there is not much that a normal 45LC load (not a cowboy action load) will not handle. If you want to shoot the really heavy 45 LC loads the ruger Blackhawk is the way to go The Blackhawk even has its own section in many reloading manuals for heavy Blackhawk only loads https://charterfirearms.com/pages/faqs
Stewart, Steady diet of heavy +P loads will eventually wear out any gun and the shooter. Especially .45 Colt. Standard .45 Colt rounds out of this 2 1/2" barrel will be a handful. Charter Arms are stout revolvers and will handle it, but not a lot of fun at the range.
