Richard, yes Sir. The 22Magnum Cartridge has a larger diameter case than the 22LR Sir.

Yes it requires a cylinder change the 22 mag will not fit in the smaller22lr cylinder and the 22lr will have case ruptures if fired in the larger 22 mag cylinder
