Is it worth it to buy this gun or just build the polymer80 kit and put all the parts I want into it?
It's up to you because if you want a custom gun then I will go with a build kit. That way you can add everything you want and nothing you don't.
Frank, in my opinion, the build kit gives you full control of configuring exactly what you want as well as the satisfaction of a custom build if you have the know how. The gun itself would be my last option if I have the capability of building exactly what I want. Cheers!
No Glock chosen for comparison but the polymer kit is actually fun. It's good to be different. You might spend more money on the build but it won't be the same as others. I prefer Glock reliability. It's what I know.
The polymer kit is great for customization. Like the other person said, I do prefer the reliability of a Glock. Some people buy a Glock and spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars on aftermarket parts. Might as well by the polymer 80 kit and customize it to the fullest of your imagination. I've seen some where you can build one cheaper than a Glock and, obviously, those who spend well over a thousand on their Glock-like build.
Frank, Life is a series of experiences. The more you have the better. If you have what it takes try to build a firearm with 80% lower go for it. I have built several just to have un-serialized guns. It was neat, but I'm done with it now.
If you want customization go with the 80. If you want mass produced items go with Glock. If not get both!
