It appears the description says it is California compliant. Maybe they have more marketing and have to up the price.

California resident here. Unfortunately, some firearms for California cost more. This firearm has features to make it California compliant for the Handgun Roster, such as the loaded chamber indicator (LCI). Smith & Wesson also have to pay extra in order to get these firearms compliant, thus, bringing the price for us up up and away. I can respect Smith & Wesson for even taking the time and legal courses in order for us to obtain a certain firearm. Many companies don't bother because it is just a big headache and costs a lot of money for them to produce. We do have lawsuits against the Handgun Roster/State of California.That's my understanding.
