Hugh, it does have a Tang Safety which would interfere with a Rear Tang Peep Sight.

Hugh, Everything I've seen on this rifle.says the safety is only half cock safety and ladder sights. With that being said you could mount tang mounted rear sight.

This item is showing it is a open top ejection port model, so a tang peep sight might be difficult. It would be best to confirm that with Winchester whether it is possible to do so.
