Keith, Yes it is flush fit as you stated the flush fit magazines are 17 rounds. I would think this 18 round magazine will be a little longer then flush fit, but fits just like the 17 or 15 round magazines. I don't know what Mec-Gar did, but this magazine is flush fit. Looking at mine it seems like base plate is thinner. They also have an 18+2 extension magazine out there.
