Brent, your assessment is close Sir. 28 to 30 inch (I favor the 28 for faster handling for clays and upland birds. 32 or longer is spot on for long range shooting.

That's a personal preference. Obviously, longer barrel for longer shots. At the same time, practice , practice, practice.
