In my experience it has always been a real person. Had an issue with the shipping weight of something being far too much and driving the cost up and they fixed it in about a minute and I was on my way.

Yeah dude it's real people. I had an issue using my card and with that wasn't going through after multiple attempts. It ended up being an issue with the site and they were able to help me eventually but it's a real person dude. I know what you mean about coming across machines.
