James, either will get the job done and are great rifles in their own regard. This will boil down to which is more aesthetically pleasing to you Sir. For me it would personally be the Benelli R1 Rifle.

I've had BARs for years, no issues with them.

the BAR is a tried and true semi auto and for that reason it would be my choice
