18 inches is the minimum barrel length for a Shotgun however the shockwave is not classified as a shotgun by BATF it is classified as a firearm. If you purchase one be very careful of modifications as it can easily become a illegal gun due to those mods IE adding a stock will make it a illegal short barrel shotgun
