17 HMR is a rimfire cartridge not centerfire. No primer in the center for the bullet to touch and unintentionally detonate.
Jonathan, 17 HMR, is a rimfire rifle cartridge not centerfire so no problem with bullet point hitting primer.
Remember, this is a rimfire cartridge. The firing pin mechanics hits the rim of the cartridge, unlike centerfire cartridges. You won't have any issues. You might want to be a bit more careful if you get a centerfire version, but even then you should be safe. It was my pleasure to assist you.
Jonathan, the priming compound is in the rim and not the center of the 22/22Mag/17hmr cartridges and not the center as in center fire cartridges. The bullet tip cannot ignite the next cartridge. 3rd picture here : https://www.americanrifleman.org/articles/2017/8/16/what-you-should-know-about-22-rimfire/
