Brayden, it does not help as much as one would think as it is hard rubber. This Recoil Pad Reduces up to 50% to 70% of Felt Recoil and Fits --- Mossberg models 835, 930, 935, 500 and 500A 12 gauge with synthetic stocks & Maverick 88 with synthetic stock : https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/39377/limbsaver+recoil+pad+mossberg+835%2f500+w%2fsynthetic+stock
This shotgun has some kick to it. Even more if slugs are used. The buttstock's bad isn't all that. An recoil pad or a Limb Saver will help a lot. Combine them both and you'll enjoy it more, though it will alter the length of pull. Just keep that in mind. You can also get a 20 gauge for less recoil and more control for better follow up shots. It was my pleasure to assist you.
