Yes, you can change the buffer tube, or you can just remove the foam cover on the back and add a brace. Adding a stock would make it a SBR, which requires approval from the ATF and that you pay a $200 tax.

Michael, yes Sir you can. You can add any Brace for AR's of choice and not change the classification from a Handgun/Pistol without issue.
