I'm new purchaser. What is reason for/or advantage of a revolvers's "concealed hammer"  I thought a hammer was essential for performance to fire a round.

Ralph, The two biggest reasons for concealed hammer is so the hammer does not snag on anything when you are concealing the firearm and drawing it and that every pull is a double action pull. Always the same. No way to pull hammer back to fire single action.
