In short, they are a trigger safety which you can see jutting slightly out from the trigger, a firing pin safety, and a drop safety. Other than the trigger safety there are no external safety devices such as a grip safety or a manual safety switch that many other firearms have, which isn't to say it is any less safe than other guns, just different in handling characteristics. Brian, this Glock 19 has a 1). Manual trigger safety lever which must be depressed before you can pull the trigger. 2). It has an internal firing pin safety that does not release until the trigger is pulled. 3). A drop safety where the trigger bar engages the rear portion of the firing pin and prevents the firing pin from moving forward. As the trigger is pulled rearward the trigger bar lowers down the safety ramp and allows the release of the firing pin. After firing, the trigger bar moves upward and re-engages the firing pin.
