William, no Sir. Th barrel is stamped .223 and it is a general rule of thumb to not fire the higher pressure 5.56 Nato ammunition due to warranty and safety reasons. Still would not hurt to get Remington's take though at TEL: 1-800-243-9700.

William, Not recommended. It would void the warranty.

It will be able to fire the 5.56, but it is not recommended. You will void the warranty, plus possibly hurt yourself and others and damage the firearm. Just stay with what is stated on the firearm itself and the user's guide. It was my pleasure to assist you. RIP #8/#24
