No it's not legal. Everything I've read indicates that the Ruger 1911 isn't legal. I'm not sure why, I live in Texas and I don't keep up with the California laws. If I had to guess I would say it has something to do with the trigger, or some other random thing that your state has decided is "unsafe". Sorry to rain on your parade...

Hi Travis, this is not CA compliant due to not being "Drop Test Certified, Not having a magazine disconnect and Micro stamping. CA legislature over time added to the basics of "won't go bang when accidentally dropped" and we now have requirements for mag disconnect, loaded chamber indicator and microstamping for semi-auto pistols. Pistols already on the roster are grandfathered in and need only to relist, not pass the newer requirements. If the gun is not relisted it must pass the newer requirements to be listed. Manufacturer's are tired of CA's unnecessary and expensive test/compliance/ban biased measures and are refusing to jump through "Expensive" hoops to get compliant. So they are "pulling out" and not re certifying. "Exactly What CA Wants".
