Colton, it is designed for 22 Rimfire Handguns/Rifles. The 22 rimfire bullet is blount, heavier and slower. Yhe 17hmr is pointy, lighter but way faster and would likely create small dings. Hmm...I wouldn't recommend it. The 17 HMR is a laser beam of a little round. It's so much faster than a 22lr. I think it will pit your target if it doesn't go through it. Maybe you can shoot at it at a long distance, but I would just buy another target. Maybe some AR500 steel. It was my pleasure to assist you. Mamba out.
