Well, being lighter, they will have slightly less recoil. They will also be moving significantly faster than a full w30 grain projectile. It's a give and take situation. Shane, This is quality self defense ammunition. Don't let the grain weight of the projectile fool you. This will do as much damage and retain its weight well. If you want 230 grain defensive ammo there is plenty out there. Shane, 185gr 45 ACP is designed for higher velocity and the lighter weight, heavier velocity usually gives less penetration. A 230 grain quality jacketed hollow point is a proven man stopper and Golddot's, HST's in 230 grain work fantastically. To date, I have not found many 185gr fmj target/practice ammunition which says a lot in and of itself. Smoke that over!
