Ian, usually but not in regards to this shotgun or most modern firearms. If you plan on high sustained fire then yes, otherwise, no. Just a good clean lube and wipe down. This V3 utilizes the Versaport gas system to self-regulate gas pressure based on shell length. From light 2 3/4" target loads to the heaviest 3" magnums, the V3 cycles with equal reliability and the least felt recoil of any auto loading shotgun on the market.
Read this part from the owners manual I found online. Over-lubrication should be avoided at all times. A light application of Rem® Oil helps to prevent rusting. WARNING! Excessive use of a lubricant could adversely affect the function and safe operation of your firearm. Failure to properly maintain your firearm can not only damage your firearm, it can expose you and others to unnecessary risks of personal injury or death.
