Erik, this is correct Sir. It will create just a bit more muzzle flash and blast and have a few hundred fps slower velocity. About 350fps loss compared to a 16 inch barrel.

Erik, You are correct on all counts. A typical .308 round does not have complete powder burn until between 18" and 20" depending on the load. You will get a good muzzle flash out of a 11.5" barrel. The round will not have the velocity you get out of a longer barrel.
