I would recommend using heavy hunting loads if using 2 3/4" shotgun shells. Actually, I think that's what Mossberg recommends. "The 935 Magnum will shoot 2¾" heavy hunting loads as well as 3" and 3½" shells providing tremendous flexibility for hunters." it was my pleasure to assist you.

Mark, The 930 is a better all-around gun as to be an all-around 12 gauge shotgun, it has to cycle 1 oz. and 1-1/8 oz. 2-3/4 inch loads without problems: the 930 does that, the 935 does not . . . and isn't supposed to. Mossberg says these guns are set up for 3.0 & 3.5 inch loads. Some people report their guns will cycle 2.75" loads but I wouldn't plan on it. These guns also have a .775" bore diameter, same as the 10 gauge. Supposedly gives better patterns with large steel shot. The guys that use these for big ducks and geese seem to really like them
