In Michigan here... this will be my first handgun purchase through Buds. Do I need to get a license to purchase from my local police first, or is this handled at the FFL during pickup? Seems like I would need it first.

License will be needed when you begin the transfer process at your FFL.

Craig, this would make the process quicker but, the local FFL can do everything onsite. If the NICS system is down, slow or returns a pending,  you may not walk away with your handgun the same day.
