Revolver guy. I used to carry a Smith & Wesson 686 Plus .357 magnum with a 3 inch barrel. The revolver holds 7 rounds. Now, it's not a "plastic" gun. How about an alloy frame revolver in 45 ACP, since you love 45 ACP? If so, check out this S&W revolver that also has a rail for a light! https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/51877/smith+%26+wesson+m325+45+acp+thunder+ranch iIt was my pleasure to give you my input.
Harry, I would highly recommend the S&W : https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/19663/smith+%26+wesson+m%26p+shield+45+acp+33+w%2f+thumb+safety+7rd+6rd ---- Along with this holster : https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/20018
I would highly recommend the Sig Sauer 320 ... comes in several grip and barrel sizes. Lots of aftermarket accessories available. Easy to change most every part. Very accurate and durable. Not ammo picky ... they seem to shoot everything. I have four of them ... three 9mm and a .45 . I'm a fan!! Before you buy anything research the Sig 320.
since you have the shield I would stay with a S&W Shield 45
