This could be a magazine issue. Check function with magazine removed. the follower could be holding the top round too high. If the pistol is new contact Remington for service at Customer service: 1 (800) 243-9700. I'm sure they will make it right.
need more details. I would try a different magazine 1st. then try hand cycling with just the magazine and no rounds as its possible that the magazine catch is holding the mags to high causing drag other than that it could be a weak recoil spring
It has a solid (adjustable by bending) extractor that may not be letting the cartridge slide up the bolt face. (never put a cartridge into the chamber and close the slide as it will bend it, always feed cartridges from the magazine) Take the slide off the pistol and see if a cartridge snugly slides up under the extractor. You should be able to shake the slide a bit and not have it fall out. Also see if there is a burr around the firing pin hole that is catching the cartridge rim as it slides up the bolt face and remove it if necessary.
Any burrs on the slide or slide rail? Plenty of oil? Is it broken in yet? Can be a simple fix or a problem, hard to say.
Also make sure the barrel is clear. I once had a 9mm round that didn't have enough powder to leave the barrel. The slide wouldn't close even after slapping the back of it. I noticed it pushing the projectile back in the case of the round I was trying to chamber and upon check the barrel I found out why.
Sadly some Remington have this problem.. take it to a qualified gunsmith the get the hang up fixed. Unless you are trained and experienced at a professional level pay to have it fixed or the problem will persist even getting worse. Make sure if you field stripped this firearm you follow step by step instructions via the manual that came with the firearm. If you don't not have one you may contact Remington for a copy or simply download the pdf online. Never fire a gun that is not working properly. It is virtually a bomb in your hand. There are also tiny parts underneath the slide that can be catching.
