Edward, I would highly recommend a shotgun with a shoulder stock. The shockwave, tac-14 and those types of shotguns are a handful and savage on the wrists and hard to control. I would recommend this fellow : https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/100884/mossberg+%26+sons+-+590m+mag-fed+12+ga+185%22+hvy-walled%2c+cyl+bo
Remington 870 is as classic as they come. If you really want something short, I would recommend a Remington TAC-14 with a stabilizing brace, at least then you'd be able to shoulder it somewhat and have decent control. https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/722052072/sbl+pistol+stabilizing+brace+kit+for+remington+tac-14
I prefer a pump action, full stock with a pistol grip, and a short barrel with changeable chokes. Brand and price are up to the buyer. go to your local gun shop or range, and see which you like the feel of.
