it can be done but it is not safe the smaller diameter (non supported as the 22m case is fatter) 22lr case may rupture and spew hot gasses and metal fragments in you face

Larry, absolutely not. The 22 Mag case has a larger diameter and round would wiggle around and the head space from the bullet to the where it would engage the rifling would be too great. This is the reason 22lr pistols have a 2nd cylinder if they fire 22mag and 22lr. For safety and warranty reasons i would not.
