308/ 30-06 or larger do not use a 556 on larger game (no larger than a whitetail )

The .223/5.56 is not a big/large game round. Very small bullets. I wouldn't shoot anything larger than coyotes or groundhogs with a .223 … never for whitetail deer, you would end up wounding a lot of animals. It is not even legal for deer where I live. The 5.56 is for shooting people in a war … they're not all that tough to kill. For bigger animals get a minimum of a .243 or .270 or better yet something in a .30 caliber as others have said …. .308, 30-06 and the new .300 Blackout is gaining popularity for deer if you must have an AR platform.
