Ruger makes very stout revolvers ... my friend uses his as a back up deer gun with a heavy load and has no issues. And of course you can shoot .38 specials for ranges days ... cheaper and easier on you and the gun. Just clean the cylinder well after shooting .38s to prevent build up,
