For a compact semi-auto pistol, I would recommend looking at the Walther PPS M2, GLock 43, Springfield XD(S), Sig P290RS, and the M&P Shield among the others mentioned. For revolvers, I think it is hard to beat a J-Frame S&W like the Model 642 or the Performance Center 442 for ease of carry and concealment, but I also like the Colt King Cobra Carry. Another revolver option would be the Ruger LCR series.

Probably the hottest small frame carry gun right now is the Sig Sauer 365, 9mm …. two different barrel lengths available, several sight options from red dots, night sights and their special smoothed set up. They have two frames as well with choice of 10 or 12 rounds. I agree too with other posters that a J-frame S&W is hard to beat for EDC … I carry a 642 Airweight Performance Center model … dozens of .38 special loads available for practice and defense. J-Frames have been around for decades and are a proven design for any level of shooter.
