Germaine, sorry you experienced an issue with a brand new firearm. I would remove the bolt, check for obstructions and reinstall it to see if it engages. If it still does not, I would call Remington Customer Service for advice or service at 1-800-243-9700.

Germaine, Read manual under trouble shooting. The bolt sticking has been a common problem on the 770 especially the matte bolt. Clean and lube the bolt. Check out this video on the 770 bolt sticking----------https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VETE58gcPiA
