I live in NY where AR style firearms are a no-no. Is this considered a pistol, as in real pistol (as in handgun) or is it really a rifle. How do I find out if this is legal in NY.

it is classified as a pistol and is not legal in NY here are the NY pistol restrictions The following are prohibited: ✘Semi-automatic handguns that have one or more of the following features: 1. Folding / telescoping stock 2. Thumbhole stock 3. Fore-grip or other protruding grip that can be held by non-trigger hand 4. Threaded barrel 
 5. Capacity to accept a magazine that  attaches to the pistol outside of the  pistol grip 6. Barrel shroud 7. Manufactured weight of 50oz or more 8. Over 10 round capacity
