I am considering purchase of my first pistol and a dealer has suggested a Walther PK380. It looks good and is the right size but I don't know how it compares to other brands. Parts / Ammo seem more scarce then others. any help would be great

the Walther is a great little pistol 380 ammo is harder to find and more expensive than 9mm ammo I recommend that you also take a look at the SW&W shield 9mm which is a little larger https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/82836/smith+%26+wesson+m%26p9+shield+7%2b1%2f8%2b1+9mm+31%22

When I am looking for a gun on-line I always go to Buds Guns and find the gun that I am looking for then I just read the reviews that are on there that always gives me the answer to the gun I am looking to buy. I myself have a Bersa Thunder 380 and love the gun shoots great and if you look at their reviews you will see that just about everybody loves them. Good luck, and happy shooting.
