Chester, no issue with the 16.5 inch barrel. The modifications you seek seem they will make for a really handy rifle. Please let us know what you end up with. Cheers and stay safe!

Chester, Everything sounds good. May want to leave sights on with the optic you plan on putting on. Both barrel lengths will work just fine. Shorter barrel just lighter and easier to carry around.
