Rob, The only change here on bolt release handle is that the company calls improved is the larger handle. It is still the two piece handle where it screws on the bar in the bolt. Make sure you locktite the screw on handle on the bolt bar if you get this. It will loosen up.
These appear to be Gen 1 guns, so no, they do not have the upgraded bolt release. They have the original bolt release that can be easily upgraded or changed to alleviate potential malfunctions. What the previous commenters are referring to as the bolt release is actually the bolt handle/charging handle.
